The 15th International Master in Donation and Transplantation of Organs, Tissues and Cells gathers the up to now efforts carried out by national and international organizations of this field. It takes advantage of the creation of the advanced European training framework, the use of internet, and collaboration agreements with several countries from Europe and USA.
Its goal is to bring together the knowledge, skills and best practices which benefits healthcare professionals working as donor-transplant coordinators, tissue bankers and advanced cell therapies researchers by developing and updated educational program and issuing the Master University degree.
The program includes on-line training, face-to-face training with practical simulations, and an internship in a prestigious centre. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and to exchange knowledge with their colleagues, experts, tutors and the centres’ staff.
Transplant Procurement Management (TPM) is an international educational program that provides demand-driven, high quality training that facilitates the transfer of knowledge and the development of professional competences as well as an excellent framework for networking worldwide.
Launched in 1991 under the auspice of UB and with the technical and financial support of ONT, TPM achieved soon afterwards an international dimension due to the increasing demand for deceased donation programs. In 1994 it gained the recognition of the Transplant Committee of the Council of Europe. It was awarded the “TTS-Genzyme Award for Education and Training in Transplantation” by “The Transplantation Society” (TTS) in 2008.
TPM applies the “Learning by doing” proactive training (D. Kolb) proved to increase the knowledge retention rate up to 75%. Its training programs engage learners at a more personal level by addressing their expectations and needs. Participants are encouraged to immerse themselves in the learning situation, in order to acquire a better understanding of the new knowledge and retain the information for a longer time. To be truly effective, TPM educational program employs the whole learning cycle, from goal setting, to experimenting and observing, to reviewing, and finally action planning.
