Launched in 1991 under the auspice of UB and with the technical and financial support of ONT, TPM achieved soon afterwards an international dimension due to the increasing demand for deceased donation programs. In 1994 it gained the recognition of the Transplant Committee of the Council of Europe. It was awarded the “TTS-Genzyme Award for Education and Training in Transplantation” by “The Transplantation Society” (TTS) in 2008.

TPM applies the “Learning by doing” proactive training (D. Kolb) proved to increase the knowledge retention rate up to 75%. Its training programs engage learners at a more personal level by addressing their expectations and needs. Participants are encouraged to immerse themselves in the learning situation, in order to acquire a better understanding of the new knowledge and retain the information for a longer time. To be truly effective, TPM educational program employs the whole learning cycle, from goal setting, to experimenting and observing, to reviewing, and finally action planning.

    About the Conference

This conference will focus on non-hepatic cancer in the liver transplant setting. Post-transplant malignancy has become a significant cause of mortality. In addition, an increasing number of patients with a history of pre-existing non-hepatic malignancies are being considered for liver transplantation. Careful selection of those with the lowest risk of recurrence, tailored screening, and management with new oncological therapies should be developed and will be discussed by a multidisciplinary set of experts from all over the world.
